While looking for fish eggs one day in the southern part of the San Joaquin delta, a dark colored Swainson's hawk was calling repeatedly to another Swainson's hawk. I was surprised to see two dark-morphs in the same tree. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised since the Central Valley is hawk heaven year round. This is a painting of one them. "The Dark Morph".
